Bridesmaid Look

The year 2017 has been full of different and exciting trends coming into the market. One of them being 'capes'. We have had capes' trend back in our teens but this time they made a comeback with a twist and yes they made their way more into the ethnic wear this time.
The wedding season is around the corner and all the girls who have their sister's or friend's weddings coming up must be having various outfit options juggling in their minds as they all want to look their best!
So we have our very favourite capes and wedding season then why not flaunt capes for one of the ceremonies. They look stylish, classy, and modern yet giving a desi look. Cherry on the cake is that they are quite light weight so one doesn't have to bear the load of those oh-so heavy Indian wear.
So find a lovely cape or get one designed with lovely work over it as capes are all about beautiful and neat work. Once you find one, team it up with either a plain gown or a plain lehenga choli and let the cape do all the talking.
See the pictures below to know how I chose to style cape for this bridesmaid's look:

Going Ethnic

Since the wedding season is around the corner, so here's some ethnic inspiration! I recently attended a wedding so thought of sharing some pictures. This look is perfect for a  ceremony like mehendi, haldi or any other small day ceremony.
For a small day function, you don't need to get overloaded with a heavy dress or jewellery. But since it's an Indian wedding ceremony so you can't even go with western wear. One needs to find a perfect blend of ethnic, comfortable, and modern look, which is traditional yet stylish. Try wearing less makeup and jewellery for a day ceremony when the weather is hot and humid.
I have just put on a full length, flared dress which is very light, and for makeup, it's just a lip color. I have left my hair to flow naturally just the way they are and did not style them. Though doing hair is completely upto you but I wanted to keep it easy and I love my hair naturally so didn't do anything for them.
Here are the pictures, Enjoy them!

You may ace a similar look and get all the eyes turned towards you 😉

Combat Belly Fat Naturally while Lazing Around

C:\Users\agu127\Downloads\Your Pink Book\ice\girl-1031308__340.jpg
Who doesn’t want flat and tight tummy! After all, well-toned body looks spectacular. People starve themselves by opting strict diets, work out very hard but don’t get fruitful results. How about if I tell you that there is a very natural and easy way to achieve that flat tummy and that too with the ease of lazing around in your bed or sofa, watching TV or just whenever!
Yes, that’s possible and with nothing but ICE. Surprised? But that's true, ice can help reduce belly fat. Let’s learn how it should be used:
Place an ice pack on the belly (or any fatty area such as thighs) for 15 minutes and then remove it for 3 minutes. Repeat this procedure thrice.
C:\Users\agu127\Downloads\Your Pink Book\ice\ice-cubes-1224804_960_720.jpg
How it works:
  • Ice transforms white fat cells into calorie burning brown fat cells that can burn away hard to shift calories.
  • Browning fat tissue is an excellent defense against obesity. Brown fat is used by the body to generate heat, the colder you become, the more brown fat disappears.
So revolutionize the fight against fat by doing spot reduction of fat with ice. The scientists have done many researches, tested this on a lot of people, and verified that ice can freeze off the belly fat like magic.
Wasn’t that easy? Just go and try this therapy and combat that stubborn belly fat!

Don't Starve Yourself, Rather Eat to Lose Weight

Reducing weight by eating… sounds funny no? Well, it's very unhealthy to stay hungry as it makes you weak and reducing fat or weight that way is not good as even some diseases like diarrhea also make one look thinner and reduce weight but they also make them weak. Would you like that? I hope not!!! So, I'm gonna share some things that can help one reduce fat if you eat them:
  • Almonds

They are low in calories and contain good amount of fiber which makes one feel full for long time and thus, satisfies the hunger. So, they are a good snack for weight loss.

  • Apples

Apples contain non-digestible compounds that promote the growth of good bacteria in the gut that are associated with weight loss.
  • Avocado
They increase the rate at which the fat is burned, reduce appetite, and decrease the desire to eat after a meal.

  • Cucumber
They are rich in nutrients like vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, and low in calories, which makes them very good detoxifier and also help in reducing weight.
  • Green Leafy Vegetables
Green leafy vegetables contain much lower calories as compared to other foods so they are great for losing weight.

  • Beans
They are high in protein and fiber which help to lose weight. They lead to more weight loss than a low carb diet.

  • Watermelon

Dehydration leads to fluid retention that can cause bloating and make the belly look bigger. Watermelon is more than 90 percent water and can helps one stay hydrated to combat fluid retention.
  • Garlic
Garlic boosts metabolism and eliminates fat from the cells. It also detoxifies the body.
  • Onions
Onions are rich in fiber and help in burning calories.
  • Ginger
They are good for digestion and help regulate cholesterol. In addition to increasing the fat loss, ginger also helps a person feel full which reduces food consumption. Thus, it acts as an appetite suppressant, which helps lose weight.
  • Cabbage
It supports digestion, helps de-bloat, and has detoxifying properties.
  • Tomatoes
Tomatoes fill the tummy but don't give those unwanted extra pounds. They improve metabolism and their fluid content helps digestion and bowel movement.

Versatality of Vaseline

We all have petroleum jelly or vaseline at our homes which we majorly use for lips. But there are many more ways it can be used. Read this post to know how versatile that small petroleum jelly pot is!
  1. Apply it on the eyelashes before bedtime to grow thicker and longer lashes.
  2. Before going to bed, wash the feet, towel dry them, apply vaseline on them and wear socks. The feet will become softer.
  3. Before applying perfume, apply some vaseline at the points where you want to apply the perfume. This locks and makes the fragrance stay for much longer time.
  4. It keep the elbows and knees soft if applied everyday.
  5. It can be used as a makeup remover.
  6. It can be applied under eye shadow to create a shiny effect.
  7. Apply it on cheeks for a dewy look.
  8. It can be applied on skin to prevent dryness.
  9. It can be used to tame eyebrows.
  10. To make a scrub, mix vaseline with sea salts.

Handbag Essentials

There are certain things which must be handy to us all the time as we might need them anytime. I’m listing down some most important things that must be there in your handbag all the time.
  1. Lip Balm/ Lipstick
Our lips tend to get chapped with time as the lip balm comes off and the chapped lips don’t look good at all so a lip balm should be a staple product in our handbag. Similarly, the lipstick gets faded when we drink or eat something so we should have a lipstick for re-application so as to keep our look the same throughout the day.

  2. Comb/ Hair-brush
Girls keep touching/caressing their hair due to which they don’t remain the way they had set them in the morning. So a hair-brush will come to the rescue.

  3. Scarf
There might be dust at some places and it irritates the skin like anything so a scarf is required to cover ourselves at such times. Also, it acts as an extra protection from UV rays too even if the sunscreen is applied.
  4. Sunglasses
Eyes are the most beautiful part of women and they are the most delicate too so they must not be exposed to harmful UV rays.
  5. Hand Cream
Washing hands several times strip off the moisture from our hands making them rough and dry so always apply a hand cream to keep them soft and moisturized.
  6. Wet Tissues
Whether it’s makeup fall-outs, sweating on face, excess oil on face, cleaning hands after eating something if provision for washing hands is not there and many other things, wet-tissues are one solution for them.
  7. Perfume
In hot summer days, one may start sweating after sometime which may make them smell bad so to prevent that, a perfume should always be there. Preferably, keep a travel-size or pocket perfume as they are easy n light to carry as compared to big sized glass bottles.

  8. Sunscreen
Sunscreen’s effect keeps on minimizing with time so a re-application is must to keep the delicate skin of face protected from harmful UV rays.
  9. Compact Mirror
A mirror will always be required to see how you are looking, if there’s something messing up that needs to be corrected and then to correct those messed up things.
  10. Rosewater Spray
Whenever you feel dull or tired, spray some rose water on the face, it refreshes the face giving it a radiant glow.
  11. Kajal
If you use kajal, then that would also be required as it usually gets faded or smudged after sometime.
  12. Nail Clipper
You never know when a nail gets chipped or broken so if a nail clipper is right there, then that chipped or broken nail can be uniformed right away making it look good and preventing it from further damage.
Those are some things that one should be carrying in their handbags. For any queries or feedback, please comment below and don't forget to share this post and follow Your Pink Book.

Invisible, yet an Unforgettable Accessory

"Perfume is the indispensable complement to the personality of women, the finishing touch on a dress."
- Christian Dior

Very rightly said by C Joybell C that you are never fully dressed without a perfume. But choosing a good perfume is very challenging and we often tend to buy something which we don't like after coming back home and then regret spending so much money on them. So I'm listing down five fragrances which you'd love to use and are not gonna create a hole in your pocket.

  1. Marks and Spencer Autograph New York EDT (Price INR 999 for 25ml)
The rich sensual feminine fragrance blends top notes of bergamot, gardenia and apricot with heart scents of damask rose, jasmine and warm woods and sensual base notes of velvety musks, creamy sandalwood, vanilla and heliotrope. An opulent fragrance to leave your skin shrouded in luxury.
It's not a mild one but not even very strong, so if you need something that lasts long and keep you smelling fresh then this one is appropriate for you.
Ideal for night parties, dinner dates.
  2. Marks and Spencer Autograph Blush EDT (Price INR 999 for 25ml)
This refreshing fragrance has a fresh floral note with bergamot and cassis giving sparkle to a pretty violet accord. Water fruits and soft raspberry mingle with dewy rose in the heart which reaches into a background of warm amber, creamy vanilla and silky musks. A captivating fragrance to refresh and uplift.
It has very mild, feminine fragrance so if you love soft feminine sort of fragrances, then this is the one for you! It's not very long lasting (the only drawback I could find in it).
Ideal for casual day outings, office, shopping, and kind of everyday perfume.
  3. Zara Femme EDT (Price INR 490 for 30ml)
This one mainly has vanilla and woody notes and the fragrance lasts very long. This fragrance is very mesmerizing and you'll love to wear this. Do give this a try next time you visit any Zara store.
    Ideal for evenings and winters.
  4. Calvin Klein Euphoria Blossom EDT (Price INR 2700 approximately for 30ml)
The fragrance is luminous and luscious like fruits notes of which are captured in it. Euphoria is mysterious and appealing like dark exotic flowers. It invites you to enjoy in joys of life. The main notes are rose hip, Japanese apple, green leaves, Lotus, black orchid, red woods, black violet and amber.
It's a very feminine fragrance that even last long. This is quite an expensive one but you'll totally love it.
Ideal for night parties, dinner dates, casual outings, shopping, office, and almost everywhere.
  5. Zara Rose EDT (Price INR 550 for 30ml)
As the name suggests, it smells like english rose so it's a oriental floral fragrance. Top notes are cinnamon and cumin; middle note is jasmine; base notes are cedar and musk.
The fragrance is like that of rose and not a very mild one. So if you love lil strong floral fragrances, then you may go for this.
Ideal for everyday, casual outings, summers, etc.
Give these amazing fragrances a try and I'm pretty sure that you're gonna love them. For any queries or feedback, please comment below and don't forget to share this post and follow Your Pink Book.

Hair Color for a Day

Love coloring your hair but afraid that the color might make the locks turn grey or white? Or got bored with a single color for months? You don’t have to worry anymore as now there’s a technique for coloring hair with no fear of hair turning grey!

And the cherry on the cake is: One may flaunt different color everyday!!!

Here’s how to do that:
  • Take small sections of hair and curl or straighten them as per your choice.

  • Take some powdered eye shadow and apply gently on the parts of strands that needs to be colored.
  • Again take the curling iron or straightener and curl or straighten the strands. This will lock the color.

So that was super easy no? But this is kinda a temporary color and won’t last much and vanishes completely with a head bath.
Though this can be used daily but I would recommend not to use it daily as the heat is very harmful for hair and if used daily, can damage the hair making them rough. So, use this technique occasionally and as I always say, Stay Stylish!

Bid Adieu to Acne

Acne is such a turndown. It makes us look horrible. I can say this as I had faced very severe acne few years back. I tried everything – medicines (allopathic, homeopathic, ayurvedic), ointments, cosmetics, expensive treatments at beauty salons, home remedies, blah, blah, blah… But, nothing worked out! People think that acne happens only with oily skin but that’s wrong. I have very dry skin and still I got pimples. Every pimple used to leave a mark on my face so I had kinda started hating the mirror and used to feel bad about myself all the time as my face was covered with just pimples and their marks.

You all have seen my latest pictures, and you can’t see even a pimple mark on my face, do you?

You wanna know how I got rid of acne? Let me share the secret with you.

Take little raw milk, nutmeg and an earthen plate. Put little milk into the earthen plate and obliterate the nutmeg(jaiphal). Then apply this paste onto the pimples and leave overnight. Wash face in the morning.

This is a very natural technique which doesn’t have any side effects and it has worked like magic for me. Though it takes time in showing the results but the results last almost forever and without leaving any acne marks.

P.S. Show some patience to acne and never pop a pimple no matter how tempting it is so that they don’t leave marks behind.

Stay Beautiful!

Roses for Beauty

Rose water is a beauty potion. Everyone can use it regardless of their skin type. So, today I'm gonna share with you rose water benefits which you might not be aware of and also how to use it.

  1. Freshen up Face
Spray rose water on the face daily after taking bath. Rose water helps hydrate, revitalize and moisturize the skin giving it that refreshed look. The antioxidant properties of rose water help to strengthen skin cells and regenerate skin tissues. It also helps keeping fine lines, ageing skin, and wrinkles at bay. Rose water has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce the redness of irritated skin, get rid of acne, dermatitis and eczema. It also treats sun tan. After applying rose water on skin, one can notice soothing and softening effect of it straight away.
  2. Facial Cleanser
It's a great cleanser and aids in removing oil and dirt accumulated in clogged pores thus preventing acne and pimples. It also helps in maintaining the pH value of the skin. The rose water is totally safe and will not have any type of harmful effects. Just dip a cotton ball in rose water and slowly rub your face. After sometime you will see the white cotton ball appearing black in color. This will leave the skin clean like never before.
  3. Close Open Pores
It has astringent like properties, which is why it is used after facials and clean ups to close open pores. Applying rose water after steaming tightens capillaries, reduces redness and blotchiness.
  4. Makeup Setting Spray
Rose water can be sprayed over the makeup as a setting product, providing beautiful, healthy glow and amazing dewy finish.
  5. Makeup Remover
Just apply rose water on a cotton pad and gently remove your makeup with it. It also protects the skin from fungal and bacterial infections.
  6. Hair Rinse for Dull Hair
Post shampooing, use a cup of rose water as a final rinse. It helps condition the hair deeply, adding a healthy shine. The nourishing and moisturizing properties of rose water enhance the quality of hair. Rose water helps to treat mild scalp inflammations and dandruff that are caused by fungal infections. Rosewater has a nice fragrance too and using this conditioner will also leave a scent on the hair for entire day.

  7. Pamper Yourself
Add rose water into the bath water. It makes the skin glowing. The aroma of rose water removes the stress and refreshes the body.
  8. Reduce Puffiness of Tired Eyes
Gently place a cotton pad soaked with chilled rose water on the eyes. It will help sooth the tender skin around the eyes and prevent or reduce eye puffiness.
  9. Dark Circle Remover
Dip the cotton ball in rose water. Clean the dark circles with that cotton ball. It clears the dead cells and opens the blocked pores under the eyes.
  10. After Shave
Use rose water as an after-shave, to prevent irritation and sooth the skin. Not only it can help make the freshly shaved legs feel softer, but also, rose water will leave its wonderful scent on the skin.
  11. Natural Lip Color
Regular application of rose water over the lips can easily retain pinkish tinge of the lips' skin.
  12. Healing
It has anti-bacterial properties which helps in healing scars, cuts and burns.
Those were some amazing uses of rose water. Try them and relish thou beauty.

The Angels' Enigmatic Eyes

A good eye-makeup can change our looks like wonders. People learn doing eye makeup but still don’t get that dramatic effect that they aim for. That smudged kajal and mascara are very disappointing!! We all face these problems but don’t know how to deal with them. Don’t worry, today you’re gonna learn how to add that drama to the eyes while keeping the products from smudging.

  • Smudge-Proof Kajal and Mascara Application
We all love applying kajal and mascara, don’t we? But they smudge and spread all over our under eye area making us look like we have dark circles which is such a turn down. To prevent that, one needs to learn how to keep the kajal and mascara from smudging.
Here’s how you can do that: Before applying eye makeup,
  1. Apply some compact on the under eye area as well as eyelids, it ensures that the area surrounding the eyes stays dry and any oil secreted by skin gets absorbed by the compact or powder and prevents kajal and mascara from smudging.
  2. Then, after applying kajal, line your eyes with the same colour eye-shadow over it which will lock the kajal and will not smudge when the eyes get watery. Never apply kajal on the inner corners of the eyes as that is the part which secretes most water so if there will be no kajal there then nothing would smudge. So, always apply kajal to the 3/4th part of the eyes from the outer corner.

  • Dramatic Eyes

This is an interesting thing to know. While, kajal, eye-shadows, eye-liner, mascara are all important but there’s more to it which if done, make the eyes look naturally dramatic.

    • We all apply kajal on our lower water-line or lash line but we tend to ignore our upper water-line which shouldn’t be the case. Always line the kajal on the upper water-line as well and apply a very thin layer of eye liner just along the upper lash line. Both of these will help in opening up the eyes like magic.
    • Next, one may use false lashes to give that dramatic look to the eyes but sometimes the glue used to apply false lashes shows up as a white line which is totally a spoiler. So, apply a very thin layer of liquid eyeliner over that glue so it turns all black!

  • Never Ignore Eyebrows

Eyebrows are the most ignored part when it comes to makeup. But fuller and rightly done eyebrows make you look younger and glamorous while the sparse ones make you look dull. So, always make sure to groom the eyebrows. If you have dark hair, fill the brows with a shade lighter than your hair and if you have blonde hair, then fill the brows with a shade darker than your hair.

So, those were some makeup tricks, which, if you follow, you may achieve that desired fantabulous makeup without worrying about any makeup disasters.

Let me know if you try any of these hacks and tell me how they work out for you.

If you still have any questions, please comment in the comment section below. Don’t forget to share this post, and follow Your Pink Book.
